The Wailers, a Jamaican reggae band started by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, created a total of 416 releases, all varying from studio and live albums, compilations, album and non-album single releases, remixes, music videos and soundtracks. The band was formed in 1963.

According to the official Bob Marley website, Bob Marley and the Wailers recorded over 42 studio albums, each averaging between 10 and 12 songs, accounting for most of his single releases (over 130). On, Bob Marley is recorded as having over 400 official releases, including 266 compilations and nine music videos.

The Wailers' first album released in 1965, titled The Wailing Wailers. However, Bob Marley and the Wailers didn't hit charts until the album Catch a Fire released in '73. In '74, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left The Wailers after refusing to tour.

After "No Woman, No Cry" hit big internationally, Marley's albums took off outside of Jamaica. Between 1991 and 2007, Marley sold over 21 billion albums worldwide. Several of his songs were covered by big artists such as Eric Clapton and Johnny Nash.

Marley is known as one of the most chronicled musicians and won several awards for both his music and his contributions to his native culture. He died in 1981 of cancer.
