Who were the Von Trapp children?

The Von Trapp children were the musical children of Georg and Maria Von Trapp, who fled the Nazi regime in Austria in the 1930s. The 1965 film "The Sound of Music" was based on the first part of Maria Von Trapp's book, "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers."

Georg was originally married to Agathe Whitehead, and the two of them had seven children: Rupert, Agathe, Maria, Werner, Hedwig, Johanna and Martina. His first wife passed away from scarlet fever. Maria was a nun who was chosen to tutor Georg Von Trapp's sick daughter Maria. She began tutoring all of the children before marrying Von Trapp in 1927. The two had three additional children: Rosmarie, Eleonore and Johannes.
