How Much Are Old Three Pence Pieces Worth?

The threepence or thrupenny bit was a denomination of currency used by various jurisdictions in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, until decimalisation of the pound sterling and Irish pound in 1971. It was also used in some parts of the British Empire (later known as the Commonwealth), notably Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. No threepences were produced by the Commonwealth. While examples in lower grades are often offered for sale, such as on eBay, only the 1933 and 1939 dates have any value in grades below Fine and even these are not worth more than a couple of Euros.
