How much do sea turtles weigh?

An adult green sea turtle can weigh as much as 300 to 350 pounds, and the leatherback sea turtle can grow up to 1,500 pounds. Green sea turtles are huge animals that can grow as large as 3 to 4 feet in length, while leatherback sea turtles can grow to over 7 feet long.

Sea turtles are rarely found on land, but the females make their way on land to lay their eggs on warm beaches during nesting season.

Both species of sea turtles are considered endangered. While the green variety makes its home in the southeastern part of the United States, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the Virgin Islands, leatherback turtle populations take residence in worldwide bodies of water.
