How to build a bulkhead?

Answer

To build a wood bulk head, measure the distance between each wall to determine the bulkhead’s length. Measure the width from the top of the wall, which you want the bulkhead to be, such as 14 to 16 inches. Cut with the table saw the plywood to a required size. To the distance you had earlier measured, measure a 2-by-2 board and cut the board to this length. Repeat this for two more 2-by-2 boards. Next, place the cut plywood piece on top of the 2-by-2 boards, drive nails into the floor joists through the top of the assembly, and then make a mark at the top of the level on the wall, with a pencil. After this, set the second 2-by-2 board along the pencil marks on the wall, and measure the distance from the wall to the outside of the assembly. Lastly, place the plywood on the bottom of the assembly and the 2-by-2, on the wall. Using the nail gun secure the plywood with nails.
