How to build a floating dock?

Answer

You will need 8 2 by 10 inch pressure treated boards, 2by 4 inch pressure treated boards, 1by6 inch pressure treated boards, galvanised steel corner brackets, galvanised carriage bolts, nuts and washers, plastic foam billets, drill, galvanised screws, measuring tape, spiral nails. Cut the 2 by10 boards for framing and join the corners using galvanised steel corner brackets. Mark the holes before drilling and bolting corners to wood pieces. To make a double frame use a 2inch block of wood as a spacer and repeat the first step bolting a steel bracket to the lower frame. Place plastic foam billet pieces inside the frame with one on each long side and another in the middle of the box. Measure every 16 inches and make a mark where you will install the cross ties. Form retainers using 2 by 4 boards and screw ties alongside each piece of foam billet to hold the foam piece in place. Cut 1by6 boards for decking and use spiral nails to attach the boards to the top of the frame and cross ties. Once you are done have several people help you to move the dock into the water.
