How to Clean Water Softener?

Answer

Most people are unfamiliar with what a water softener is, much less how to clean one. You can actually tell when it needs to be cleaned by residue left on your glasses after you have filled them. They should be cleaned 1-2 times a year. First, turn the softener on bypass, so that you are not using it during cleaning. Disconnect water softener from the outlet for safety. Remove the softener injector cap and set it slowly aside. Next, take out the injector screen and wash it with warm soapy water. Clean the injector nozzle using canned air to remove dust and dirt. Put the machine back together and carefully plug it back in. Test it out first before drinking any of the water. You can find more information here: www.ehow.com

Water softener allows soap to dissolve more easily than in hard water. The salt storage tank of the water softener needs to be cleaned out from time to time. Firstly, disconnect the unit from the electrical source. Unscrew the softener injector cap and remove the injector nozzle and the screen. Clean the screen with warm soapy water, then rinse in clear water. Clean the nozzle with a small wire, canned air, or a paper clip. Reassemble and test the unit.
