How to Make a Shrimp Net?

Answer

To make shrimp nets, bend the wire into a circle, with a diameter of about eleven inches and cut a 12.7 or 15.2 cm piece of wire and coil it around the two end pieces at the base of the circle. Next, round the folded edges and hand-sew the open seams. Then, place the netting sock in the centre of the wire circle and cut the excess netting away. After that, drill two holes, 7.6 cm from one end of the metal pole, around 0.6 cm in diameter through the sides of the pole, thread the ends and bring them out of the drilled holes and finally keep the tension on the wire.

If you are shrimping on an individual basis and not a commercial one, you can make a simple shrimp net from a large metal circle on a long pole with a net attached to the circle, creating two or three foot bag. It is probably worth buying the net as that is the hardest part to make but with shrimp it is best to use white or monofilament net as the shrimp find these types of net harder to see. A blue or greet net is visible to a shrimp.
