How to Measure the Volume of Rock?

Answer

The best way to measure the volume of rock is to place it in water and then measure the volume of the water in which the rock displaces. Since rock is an irregular shape there is no real formula that allows you to find the volume. You will need to mark the side of the container to indicate the starting level of water and the end level with the rock submerged. This is also called the Archimedes Method or the displacement measurement.
