Putting on football equipment can be challenging the first few times, but once you get the hang of it, it really is quite easy.
The basic parts of football equipment are: Knee pads, thigh pads, hip pads, tail pad, pants, shoulder pads, shoulder straps, jersey, helmet, chin strap, mouth piece, cleats, and protective cup if desired.
First put the knee pads, shoulder pads, hip pads and tail pad into the pants. The pants have built in slots for the knee and thigh pads. Simply slip the knee and thigh pads into the pouches that are sowed into the inside of the pants. The pants will also have buttons for the tail and hip pads. Simply button the tail and hip pads into place, on the inside of the pants.
At this point you can now put the pants on, and tighten and tie the laces at the waist area. There is usually a belt sown into the pants which should be tightened and secured at the waist. Once your pants are secured on, it's also a good time to put on your socks and cleats at this time.
Next, put on an undershirt. A short sleeve or cut off sleeves can be worn in warm weather. A long sleeve shirt may be desired in colder weather. Now put your jersey over your shoulder pads, and then slip the shoulder pads over your head. The laces should be at your chest. Go ahead and tighten and tie the laces at your chest. There is also two shoulder straps hanging off the back of the shoulder pads. Bring each strap under each arm, and fasten the straps at the front of the shoulder pads.
Finally, put your helmet on, and button your chin strap. The helmet should be firm and not have much movement on your head. The chin strap should rest firmly on your chin with little movement as well. The chin strap is adjustable so you can tighten or loosen it as needed. You will also want to wear a mouth piece before play. Some mouth pieces can be fastened to your helmet face mask.
You now should be ready to play football. If you are at all unsure of your equipment, you should always have a coach or equipment manager check you out before play. Proper equipment wear is extremely important in order to avoid injury.
