How can you tell if a fuel pump is going bad?

Answer

It's a bit tough to know if your fuel pump is going bad or if your filter is just clogged. Look for the fuel filter under your vehicle. It will be somewhere on the inside of the frame by one of the doors and looks like a soda can with a metal line on each end. Remove the line form the back end of the filter and crank the ignition. If a lot of gas comes out it is probably your filter that is bad.

In my experience, an easy way to tell if a fuel pump is going bad is when your car cranks but won't run. Often this is because fuel is not reaching the spark. You can also tell a fuel pump is going bad if your car won't idle.
