There are seven cervical vertebrae in the human neck. Another bone that can be found in the neck is the hyoid bone. This is located in the neck but is not considered to be part of the neck bones. It controls funcion for the tongue. All humans and animals have seven cerviacl vertebrae in their necks, even the long necked giraffes. The bones of the neck and chest include the acromion, atlas, cervical vertebra, clavicle, false rib, floating rib, scapula, spine of scapula, sternum, thoracic, vertebra, and vertibral column.
