Cerium is a soft, malleable,ductile and iron-grey metal. It was discovered by W. Von Hisinger in the year 1903. It is slightly harder than lead (Pb). It is very reactive that it tarnishes readily in the air, oxidize slowly in cold water and rapidly in hot water.
