Is it legal to have a pet squirrel in Florida?

The Florida Wildlife Committee regulates which animals are illegal to own and study in categories of classes. Since squirrels are not indicated in any of those classes, it is not illegal to have a squirrel as a pet. Other states where the animal can be kept as a pet in the United States are Arkansas, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
