Is It Legal to Ride in the Back of a Pickup Truck?

In many states it is illegal to ride in the back of a pickup truck. Generally if it is illegal to not wear a seat belt then it is also illegal to sit in a truck bed. Check local laws to be sure.

A person would be in the bed of the truck, in the same place where you'd haul a load in a truck. The truck would be moving. That's considered "riding" in a truck.
