Jennifer Odessa Nettles was born on September 12, 1974 in Douglas, Georgia. Before forming Sugarland, she was the lead singer in Soul Miner's Daughter and The Jennifer Nettles Band. In 2003 she formed Sugarland with Kristian Bush and Kristen Hall. Their first album was "Twice the Speed of Life". Three years later, Kristen Hall left the group and Sugarland became a duo. In 2009 Sugarland won a Grammy for Best Song and an Academy of Country Music Award for Vocal Duo of the Year. In December 2012, Nettles and her husband welcomed their first son, Magnus Hamilton Miller.
