Juan Luna is most well known for being a Filipino painter and also for being a big political activist of the Philippine revolution. He stands out since he was one of the first Philippine artists to be recognized for their art. Luna won the gold medal in the 1884 Madrid Exposition of Fine Arts. His painting mainly focused on historical scenes and literary scenes and he also included political commentary when he could fit in.
