What Does Low TSH and Normal T3 and Normal T4 Mean?

Answer

T3 (triiodothyronine), T4 (thyroxine) and TSH (thyroid- stimulating hormone) are separate endocrinological tests carried out to diagnose thyroid function. Total T4 test has been used for years to diagnose hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism but the free T4 test is newer and believed to be more accurate which is at times used in the place of Total T4 tests. A result that shows does low TSH and normal T3 and normal T4 mean indicates hyperthyroidism and normal TSH and low Free T4 indicates normal thyroid function.
