A noun complement is what follows a linking verb. Some of the linking verbs are am, is, are, was, were, has been, are being, and might have been. Here are a couple of examples of sentences: Brandon is a gifted athlete, it was he who caught the winning touchdown Friday night, and Brandon becomes embarrassed when people compliment his skill. Noun complement example: Brandon equals subject, is equals linking verb, athlete equals noun as subject complement.
