Occupancy rates is also known as percentage of occupancy. This depends on the number of rooms of the building occupied. To calculate occupancy rate for a particular building, divide its occupied rooms with the total number of rooms. The resulting figure, which would equal to or less than one, would be the occupancy rate or percentage of occupancy.
