Australia is the only continent without any active volcanoes. However, there is one active volcano on Australian territory, that being Big Ben on McDonald Island. A volcano is a fissure, in a planet's exterior or crust, which permits hot magma, volcanic ash and gases to discharge from the magma chamber beneath the earth.
