Penny Chenery was born as Helen Bates Chenery Tweedy on January 27, 1922. Her biography is famous because she is the woman who bred and raced the famous racehorse Secretariat. He won the Triple Crown in 1973. She is still alive and lives in Boulder, Colorado. She is no longer married, and has four children. She also raised Riva Ridge who won both the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes in 1972. Riva was named after Chenery's son-in-law who fought in World War II.
