There are five planets in the solar system that are visible from the night sky. Those planets are Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn. Of those five, Venus resides closest to the Earth.

It is Jupiter, Mars is just north of Orion and Venus is just above the horizon. The planet just below the moon is Jupiter.
