Some of the characteristics of the kingdom called Protist include the fact that most of these are single celled creatures. Protist cells always have a nucleus and a membrane and get energy from either the sun or from the digestion of other plants or animals. Some protists are much like plants and create energy through the use of sunlight. Many protists live in water and are able to move themselves. Protists are always microscopic although some have many cells.
