Behavior of psychotic people is constantly being studied by psychologists and psychiatrists. There are many known causes but with more information about the way the brain functions, more causes and treatments are happening. A person may have psychotic behavior due to Schizophrenia, mental illness like autism, and have been abused or molested as a child. Characteristics include becoming violent, hurting themselves or someone near them. They may make threats and refuse medication, among other things.
