How do you levitate?

Actual levitation would require an invisible force holding a person aloft against the Earth's gravity, which is impossible. The equivalent amount of energy, even if Jedi mind powers were real, would completely fry the brain and nervous system. Therefore, levitation as seen in magic shows is completely staged.

There are some New Age traditions that claim to teach the ability to move energy throughout the body. Some people who practice these beliefs operate on the notion that moving energy is fundamentally the same as moving matter because of a misinterpretation of the e= mc^2 equation, or energy is equal to mass in grams multiplied by the square of the speed of light (300,000 meters per second). Although mass and energy are intertwined, the sheer amount of energy required to move mass with nothing but the power of the mind is mind-boggling. For example, a human weighing 50 kilograms would have to somehow exert 45 * 10^10 joules of energy, not even counting Earth's constant gravitational pull of 9.8 meters per second. Telekinesis via human brain power is not something that conforms to the laws of Newtonian physics. It is fun to fantasize flying through the air, but nowhere in the realm of reality.
