Rocketmail was among the first free email services, rivaling Hotmail in popularity. It was owned by Four11, which was taken over by Yahoo! in 1997. At that time the Rocketmail accounts were merged with Yahoo!'s. In 2008 Yahoo! revived the Rocketmail brand and allowed users to create accounts on that domain again, but at the time of writing, the Rocketmail domain is redirecting to Yahoo!.
