This light are kept lit 24/7 and the only time it is put out is at the end of Maundy Thursday Mass where it is moved, along with the holy Sacrament, to the Altar of Rest till Easter Vigil when it is brought back to the Sanctuary. Its purpose d show that Christ is exists in the holy Sacrament, and in the Tabernacle. Whereas Mass card is sent a family representing that the sender has arranged for a Mass to be said in memory of the deceased.
