Cold sores are fever blisters which form around the neck and on the lips. It causes the skin where the blister has formed to be red and the fever can really tear you down. It is not advisable you break open a cold sore; it will be very painful especially when you get it wet. The best thing you can do is ignore the cold sore and pretend it is not there. Keep it moisturized by using petroleum jelly. This will make the cold sore resolve faster. Also get lots of rest. Good sleep and adequate rest will play the trick.
