Should You Place a Pressure Reducing Valve before or after a Water Meter?

Answer

I believe you should place the pressure reducing valve before the water meter. This protects the pipes and equipment from the additional pressure the city may have added to the water to facilitate the needs of fire equipment and to conteract the effects of gravity. Reducing the pressure also helps in water conservation.
