Train Seat Availability?

Answer

Train seats are designated by class. First class is only available on some trains and offers meals, beverages, hot towels, and more. Business class is offered on many trains and offers a beverage and newspaper. Coach seating is the majority of train seating. This can be either reserved or unreserved. Reserved seats are paid for and guaranteed. Unreserved seats are on a first come, first served basis. You can usually purchase on-board upgrades if space is available in a higher class. All train lines have their own seating policies.
