I don't know exactly what model you have. But, generally the brake is on the transaxle (rearend) just inside the right rear wheel. There is a rod with a spring going to an arm there

You have to get underneath the mower, take out the bolt and the blade will come right off. Then put the new blade on the SAME way as the old one and put the bolt back on. . Source
