America is a vast melting pot of cultures and therefore it is quite difficult to place a set of characteristics on such a broad term. Typical 'Mexican' families, or 'typical Arab' families are much easier to categorize. With that being said, America, being a capitalist country, most American families will bond and enjoy their material possessions with one another, be it the television, the car, etc.
