The conclusion of the War of Independence of 1857 was that the English maintained control over the territory and people of India. It has to be noted though that the Indians who fought against their occupiers served notice that eventually they intended to overthrow the English. For the times being though, the thwarted was effort cemented the English takeover of more of India's rajs.
