In order for foods to be labeled as organic, they must: (1) come from farms that have been certified by a state or private agency that has been accredited by USDA. (2) If a food says its '100 percent organic', it must only contain organically produced ingredients (excluding water and salt). (3) Organic foods must contain, by weight, at least 95% organically produced ingredients. (4) Foods must contain, by weight, at least 70% organic ingredients if they are labeled 'made with organic ingredients'. (5) The label must display the name and address of the certifying agent.
