Sewage has to be collected, treated and disposed off well in order to protect public health and prevent diseases. There are three major methods of sewage disposal namely cesspools, septic tanks and use of package sewage treatment plants. A cesspool is a watertight tank installed underground while a septic tank is a system with a tank and a drainage pipe which directs the sewage to a reservoir.
