Alan Sillitoe was a winner of Authors' Club First Novel Award and Hawthornden Prize emerging in the 50's as one of the 'Angry Young Men' of British fiction. He was a Nottingham-born novelist, born on 4th March, 1928 and died in London aged 82 on 25th April, 2010. Some of his award winning novels of which were also made into films include; 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning' and 'The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner'.
