Scottish crime writer, Ian Rankin OBE, DL, was born on 28th April, 1960 and his best-known books are the Inspector Rebus novels. He has also written several pieces of literary criticism among them, 'The Noir Thriller' (2001), 'Ian Rankin’s Black and Blue' (2002) and 'Delightful Murder: A Social History of the Crime Story' (1984). His novels include: 'The Flood' (1986), 'Watchman' (1988) and 'The Falls' (2001).
