There are conditions that can cause breath to smell like mothballs. The most common is a sinus infection. Tooth decay can also cause a similar odor. Kidney failure yet another possibility. It's a good idea for someone with halitosis who cannot seem to get rid of it with brushing, flossing and mouth wash to make an appointment with his/her doctor.
