What Causes Skin Indentations?

Answer

Usually, indentations in the skin are caused by pitting edema, or an accumulation of fluid due to water retention. Pitting edema can be a symptom of varicose veins, or a number of systemic diseases. There may also be other causes for indentations of the skin not associated with edema.
