What did Brachiosaurus eat?

Answer

According to Live Science, the Brachiosaurus was a herbivore that ate coniferous trees, ginkgoes and cycads. To maintain its weight, an adult Brachiosaurus had to eat up to 400 pounds of plants every day.

The Brachiosaurus was a dinosaur that lived during the late Jurassic Period 156 million to 145 million years ago, according to Live Science. The first Brachiosaurus fossil was found in 1900 in the Grand River Valley in western Colorado. Fossils have been found in North America and Africa, specifically Tanzania. Because of these findings, scientists believe the Brachiosaurus had a huge range and may have even lived in modern-day Europe. It was one of the tallest dinosaurs, standing on average 40 to 50 feet tall; at the time it was first discovered, it was believed to be the largest dinosaur. Its neck was about 30 feet long, which helped it eat plants from tall trees. It was an herbivore, which means that it only ate plants. Paleontologists believe the Brachiosaurus stripped trees of their vegetation while eating; this is because its teeth were suited to stripping leaves off of trees but not for breaking up food. They also believe the dinosaur supplemented its diet with leaves from lower vegetation.
