Joseph Lister was a surgeon who developed and invented better and safer methods of surgery. He invented the use of antiseptics in surgery, as he had discovered that many surgical procedures ended up fatal due to the wounds getting infected. He was among the first surgeons to use sterilized instruments during surgery.
