Sigmund Freud studied dreams and wrote extensively about what he thought made dreams important. Before Freud began studying the dreams of his patients, people did not think that dreams were significant. He theorized that dreams are where our unconscious urges, which we hold at bay while conscious, were released when we dreamed.
