Thomas Telford was a Scottish civil engineer, stone mason and architect who lived between 1757 and 1834. He is best remembered for building the Ellesmere Canal that links a number of regions including Wrexham, Ellesmere and Chester. Telford was also involved in the design and construction of the Shrewbury Canal.
