What Do Human Ashes Look like?

Answer

Human ashes are not actually ashes as one would think of them. The final result of the incineration part of cremation is actually a pile of dry bone fragments. Those fragments are swept out of the incinerator and pulverized either by hand or by using a machine called a Cremulator. What is left after that process is approximately 4 to 6 pounds of pasty-white colored bone that has the texture of sand.
