What Do I Do If My Dog Swallows a Bone?

Answer

It would not be advisable to feed a dog with bones. In case of such, there are symptoms that one could observe to determine if there is damage or not. These symptoms are: vomiting, rectal bleeding, and liquid discharge from the rectum, diarrhoea, straining to defecate, and extreme sensitivity to palpation of the abdomen. If your dog has swallowed bones recently and shows any of the above symptoms, your dog's veterinarian should be contacted immediately and the bones have to be removed, usually under sedation.
