What Do Political Parties Do?

A political party is a political organization that seeks to influence government policy, by nominating their own candidates and trying to have them take a place in a political office. Their functions include developing and advancing particular ideological positions, facilitating political education and encouraging political participation of both party members and voters. They also play a major role in political elections at local, national and regional levels as they seek to represent the interests of their supporters who elect them to the Legislature.
