What Does Your Lungs Look like When You Smoke?


When you smoke, your lungs have a blackened area that indicates a massive deposit of tar. Cigarette smoke contains lots of impurities that are inhaled in vast numbers straight into your lungs. For this reason, your alveolar spaces have many scavenger cells (macrophages) that are packed with engulfed (phagocytized) particles of debris and impurities.

Usually normal lungs would be a pink shade in color. If you were a smoker, then the lungs would look like a dark brown to black in color. It would look like burned meat after years of smoking.
