There are two main types of crappie fish; the white crappie and the black crappie. The white crappie is a silvery color. The fish can range from silvery white on the belly to dark silvery green on the back. The side of the fish displays vertical 'bars'. The black crappie is similar in size and shape to the white crappie, however it is a darker colored fish, and displays a pattern of black spots on its side.
