What Does Alcohol Do to the Lungs?

Alcohol disrupts the production of proteins that keep fluids out of the lungs. It lowers the level of a protective antioxidant and disrupts the immune defence, leading to a disease known as alcoholic lung. Alcohol also harms the molecular life of the lungs, which leads to the acute respiratory distress syndrome and pneumonia.
